Spiritual Health

Our spiritual health is the overall state of our energetic field, including the state of our mind, heart, and physical vessel. Similarly to our physical health, what we bring into our energy, what is around our energy, and how we express our energy through thoughts and actions, all have an impact on our overall spiritual well being. The state of our energy not only affects our spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing but also the well being of those around us, our manifestations, and even the clarity and strength of our psychic or spiritual connection. By tending to our spiritual hygiene needs, we are able to combat any negative energetic influences around us and manage the influence our energetic or vibrational state has in our lives and the lives of those around us.

IMPACTS ON SPIRITUAL HEALTH

ENVIRONMENT

No environment is an inherently negative place, but everywhere you go can have an impact on your spiritual health if you aren’t maintaining proper energetic boundaries around you and your environment through different protection practices. Some impactful environments include highly populated areas and/or spiritually active spaces like concerts, events, stores, hospitals, nursing homes, and cemeteries. This also includes spaces where people have a regular presence like their homes and shared workspaces because their energy is repeatedly being established there on a regular basis.

PEOPLE

Who we spend our time around will have an affect on our energy especially if we are not maintaining mental, emotional, and energetic boundaries. Depending on how open we are, we can empathically take on people's thoughts, emotions, and even physical experiences, which can feel as if it’s our own if we aren’t able to discern between what is ours and what is others. Regardless of how we maintain our boundaries, who we spend time around will have an impact on our energy. No one is inherently bad or negative, but their current lifestyle, mindset, habits, life experiences, and spiritual health will determine the impact they have on us, but our own influences will play a part in whether or not we are aligned with that person which can again change many times. It’s important to be mindful of how we feel after being around certain people and acting accordingly without judgement because any negative feelings can be just as much on us as it is on someone else.

BELIEFS AND PRACTICES (INCLUDING HABITS & CYCLES)

The thoughts and habits we participate in are ultimately what we are giving our power and energy to. By participating in the cycles that aren’t serving our highest good, like addiction, gossip, judgement of ourselves and others, limiting beliefs, or anything that is ill intended or causing harm is going to have a harmful impact on your spiritual health because you are out of alignment with yourself. This can also open you up to attracting in more negative influences that could to have a damaging effect on your energy. When you choose to address the healing needed and shift your focus and energy onto the beliefs and practices that are rooted in love, truth, acceptance, and peace, you’re living in alignment with your spirit. This will have a positive impact on your energetic well being and will ultimately attract more positivity into your life. Another practice that can have a negative influence, is actually the lack of certain practices. If you aren’t tending to spiritual hygiene or healing practices, you’ll surround yourself in stagnant energy or allow unwanted energy to linger especially if you participate in certain healing, spiritual, or magical practices.

ENERGETIC ATTACTMENTS (MENTAL, EMOTIONAL, PHYSICAL, AND SPIRITUAL)

Everything stated above has the chance of creating a mental, emotional, or energetic attachment or cord to it. Even if we remove ourselves from harmful people, places and situations physically, if we are still tied to emotionally or mentally, the energy can linger and continue to impact on our energy, affecting our spiritual health. This is true for spiritual attachments if we are not maintaining our spiritual hygiene practices, especially after any spiritual or energetic work. Most of our negative attachments are a result of different harmful habits or beliefs either about ourselves or others that are intended to be evolved or healed which can keep us tied to the energy until it’s addressed.

SPIRITUAL HYGIENE PRACTICES

We cannot control the energetic state of other people, places, or situations, but we can have a say over how it affects us through different spiritual hygiene practices. These practices allow you to maintain your spiritual health by clearing out and establishing energetic barriers between you and the unwanted energy/spiritual influences found in everyday life as well as managing the impact your own energy can have on your overall spiritual health.

Learn more about each spiritual hygiene practice through the links below.

  1. ENERGETIC MINDFULNESS

The best way to maintain your spiritual health is by understanding what negatively and positively impacts your energy and placing your energy/power accordingly. This can be especially helpful for those who are open psychically or empathically because it allows you to be mindful of the energy you take on or become connected to. Not only is this a form of cleansing, protection, and even grounding, this is also a practice of self discovery and healing.

  2. CLEANSING

Cleansing practices keep you and your environment purified from unwanted energy and spirits. Without cleansing, these energetic influences can leave you feeling drained and mentally foggy, but with these practices, you can take your power back from the unwanted energy in your field so it can be used for your own personal development and empowerment.

  3. PROTECTION

Protection practices add a protective barrier between you and the energetic influences around you and wards away different types of harm and inconvenience. You can place protections on yourself, your environment, family, material items, and even surround things like your finances, name, and relationships with protection. Cleansing and protection go hand in hand with the effects of your cleansing practices being short lived without being followed up with protection and your protection practices trapping in negative energy with some sort of cleansing or banishing element involved.

  4. GROUNDING

Grounding practices center our energy and awareness in the present moment and allows us to have a deeper connection with ourselves and the world around us. This supports our mental, physical, and emotional health and is an essential practice for our overall spiritual health, giving us a strong foundation for our healing, spiritual growth, and psychic development.

Maintaining our spiritual health is just as important as caring for our mental, emotional, and psychical health, especially because they tend to support one another. You don’t need to participate in any specific practice to need to tend to your spiritual health and hygiene either. Everyone, no matter your lifestyle, benefits from including some sort of practice to maintain their energetic health as a part of our self care routines. These practices can be as simple or complex as you’d like making it easy to integrate into the routines you already have so they are sustainable regardless of the time or energy you have available to you.
