Introduction

HELLO. WELCOME TO MOTH SPIRIT!

My name is Leigh and I’m a spiritual practioner and developing psychic medium. I became dedicated to my own personal healing in 2020 and that has now snowballed into me supporting others with their own healing and spiritual growth today. I wasn’t given the easiest hand in life and a lot of the hardships I had faced left me in a debilitating state of fear and anxiety. I’ve found the confidence and faith to show up in the world the way I do today through my spiritual beliefs and practices and it has truly been a life-saving transformation.

MY SPIRITUAL BACKGROUND + INFLUENCES

I have been developing my spiritual beliefs and practices since mid-2020 when I started learning about astrology and numerology after leaving the church for good. That quickly led me into my spiritual awakening where I would begin honing my ability to connect with my guides and ancestors. After developing a relationship with them, I began using that experience to support others with connecting with their own spirit team and eventually was called toward mediumship. I never thought mediumship was apart of my work, mainly because it comes to me differently than those who grew up with a lot of spiritual activity. I’ve come to recognize how it wasn’t a gift but a skill that could be honed over time and is now something that I support others with developing for themselves. I believe that we all can connect with our guides and loved ones and I find so much fulfillment in helping other connect with that part of their inherent ability, even if comes differently to them as well.

I have a special focus on generational healing within my spiritual work. This interest developed as I began reconnecting to my culture when I came across a value coming from the Haudenosaunee people who understood the importance of considering how their actions and decisions will affect them now and for the next 7 generations to come. That got me thinking about how my actions now could affect my children and descendants in the future which motivated me to start taking my mental, physical, and spiritual health seriously and begin making some changes.

I’ve struggle with my mental health for my whole life and was diagnosed with ADHD at 23. Burnout is a real issue in my life and that only became more true when I had my daughter so it’s important for my practices and routines to work for me and not against me. Instead of having strict expectations within my practices, I tailor them to fit within the time and energy that I have to give to it, making them more sustainable with my daily responsibilities. This also helps it feel more like an act of self love and self care over an added chore to my to do list.

Just like every other human, I have less mystical interests like cooking and anything outdoors (especially birdwatching), but nothing lacks magic with spirit around. I enjoy spending time at the Salish Sea or looking at the Cascade Mountain Range. Being a stay at home mom, my little sidekick isn’t far during it all. I’m also a big advocate for equal rights and treatment for all marginalized groups, but especially BIPOC and neurodivergent people, which is another reason why I am dedicated to practicing spirituality in a respectful, grounded manner.

WHAT IS MOTH SPIRIT?

I created Moth Spirit to share my experience with healing, psychic development, and spiritual growth along with the tips, tools, and practices that I’ve learned along the way. I do this to not only support others with their healing and growth, but as a way counteract the misinformation, cultural appropriation, and fraud in the spiritual community. Unfortunately, you cannot trust everyone with a tarot deck or pendulum to have your best interest at heart, but my hope is that sharing what I’ve learned with empower others to heal themselves and avoid being taken advantage of. As a spiritual worker, my goal is to create a safe, inclusive space within myself as a person and the space around me that’s supportive of healing and growth. Sometimes this looks like healing my own harmful cycles, sometimes it looks like cleansing and protecting the energetic space, and sometimes it looks like speaking up on important issues in order to create a safer community overall. Regardless, it’s all meant create an environment that allows people to explore and accept all sides of themselves, whether that be the playfulness of their inner child or the darkness of their shadow, without fear of judgement.

I share what I’ve learned along my spiritual path to help others, but none of it’s meant to imply that I am a teacher of any sort. I am still learning, and a beginner in many ways. I can only tell you what works for me, so the only person I claim to to be able to heal is myself. Only you can decide if the information/suggestions your given resonate and apply that to your life, making you your own healer as well. I am here as spiritual support; providing resources to help you along your path, but you are the true magician here. Don’t let the mysticism in others blind you from your own magic, my friend.
