Shower Cleanse

Shower cleanses are by far my favorite way to maintain my spiritual hygiene due to how simple and practical it is. By being spiritually intentional, you’re making the most out of time already being spent on your self care and is manageable no matter what your daily routine and responsibilities look like. Before you begin this practice (and most practices), it helps to take a moment to get grounded your energy and awareness in the present moment. You can do this by connecting with your heart space by placing a hand over the chest and taking a few deep, grounding breaths. When your focus is on what’s in front of you, you’re ready to go!

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. PREP YOUR SPACE

Preparing your environment sets your intention for this to be a spiritual practice over a standard shower and ensures that your space supports that intention moving forward. To prepare your space, you’ll want to cleanse it and cultivate the energy around you to align with your intention. You can do this by using incense, crystals, sprays, frequencies, or you can even dress a tealight candle with herbs and oils that promote purification.

  2. CALLING BACK YOUR ENERGY

This step ensures your cleansing all of your energy, not just part of it and it amplifies the revitalizing effects of this practice. Starting from a grounded place, call your energy back to you, either out loud or mentally. I prefer to say something along the lines of - “I call all of my energy back from anything and everything I’ve given it to, consciously or unconsciously and send energy back that is not my own back to its origin in its purest form.” Close your eyes and visualize that energy detaching from any people, concerns, obstacles, or entities that may be draining your energy come back to you. Feel this energy come back into your energetic field. Once you feel like you’ve fully regained your energy, you're ready to purify it.

  3. CLEANSING YOURSELF

While you cleanse, hold the intention of deeply scrubbing away any unwanted energy off of you in your mind as you go about your shower routine. Cleanse your mind by washing your hair, cleanse your mind’s eye and any unwanted energy sent to you when people see your face as you wash your face, etc.. As you rinse, envision the water as a white, purifying light, rinsing away all unwanted energy down the drain. Sometimes, the source of the negative energy is within, so it’s not uncommon for repressed emotions to come up to be purged and cleansed away. If you’re able the space to honor that, do so, but if you aren’t, it’s okay to save it for the next opportunity as long as you make space for it at some point. Otherwise, it’ll continue to be a source of negativity in your life until it has your focus.

TIP: If you use conditioner, speak your affirmations and intentions into the conditioner and allow those to soak into your hair. You can use this step to promote self love, confidence, grounding, and as a way to establish a form of protection over your mind as well.

  4. CLEANSE THE SPACE

It’s important to cleanse away all of that unwanted energy out of your space so it doesn’t linger. This can be the same way you prepared the space or whatever cleansing method you feel drawn to. I like to rinse down the tub/shower with cleansing intentions in my mind, visualizing the water as that same white purifying light as earlier. Also, be sure to protect yourself in whatever way you prefer afterwards to lock in all of the revitalized energy in. You can do this with smoke, oils, crystals, sprays, or whatever your preferred method of protection is.
