Spell Jars
My spell jars contain different materials like salts, crystals, and plant materials to promote a specific energy and support you with different goals and intentions. There are a variety of ways to use them and direct their energy and are created to support your intention in a way that’s in the highest good of you and all involved. Outside of promoting energies and drawing in certain outcomes, they also help promote healing that last long after the spell jar done it’s job. Here’s everything you need to know about your spell jar including how to connect with it, maintain it, and dispose of it when needed.
CONNECTING WITH YOUR SPELL JAR
These jars are filled with all the magic and intention to promote their specified energy but where to direct that energy if you don’t tell it, similarly to crystals and their process to connect with them are very similar as well. You’ll want to start by cleansing your spell jar with smoke, crystals, sound, whatever you prefer then use one of the methods below to connect with the energy of the jar:
hold it in your hands and visualize the energies linking or merging together so it knows it’s yours - you can also set your intentions for the jar at this time
sleep with it under your pillow for a night
meditate with it
REFRESHING YOUR SPELL JAR
These jars aren’t created with a specific outcome in mind, but are cultivated to promote or draw in a specific energy, which can be used generally or you can set intentions on where you’d like that energy to be directed to. Because of this, you’re able to continue using them for a longer period of time to support short term and long term goals, but they will need to be refreshed periodically. There are two main signs that your spell jar is ready to be refreshed. The first is when you have received a large pay off from it’s energy like after received a blessing, experienced some good luck, or had some especially positive experiences that align with your jars intention. Another sign that it’s time to recharge your spell jar is when it’s effects have seemingly worn off. Cleansing and recharging it’s energy is a wonderful way of expressing gratitude for it’s energy in your life and allows it you to connect with it more deeply as well.
To refresh or recharge the energy of your jar, you’ll want to start with cleansing it and then using one of the listed methods below:
Use smoke in a clockwise motion around the spell jar that is either aligned with the energy of the jar (lavender for peace, rose for love, etc.) or use the smoke of a Mars or Sun ruled plant like Rosemary or Frankincense to promote vitality and power.
Make a charging plate with different candles, crystals, herbs, etc. and place your spell jar in the middle of the materials used
Shake the jar to reenergize the jar
Use clear quartz to amplify it’s energy
DISPOSING OF THE SPELL JAR
If you’re jar is showing signs of decay (mold/browned plant material, cracked glass, broken or corroded seal) or you have a strong feeling to dispose of it, it’s in your best interest to.
To dispose of your spell jar, again, you’ll want to start by thanking it for it’s service, calling your energy back, and cleansing it and yourself with the intention of detaching your energy from it. Then, you’ll want to dismantle and dispose of the contents properly. Here are some tips:
Use a lighter to melt or soften the wax or a knife to cut around the seal so you can pop the top off
Remove the contents and separate them based on how they will be disposed of - jar/crystals can be reused, herbs/plants can be disposed of in nature, and salt/non-biodegradable materials can be disposed of in the garbage to avoid impact to the environment
Dispose of materials and wash and cleanse the reusable items (some crystals shouldn’t be cleaned with water so be mindful of that)
If you can’t get the materials out, you can bury the materials in your yard/garden (protection jars should be buried off property when done with them)
SUGGESTED USES + SETTING INTENTIONS
Hold the jar in your hands or place it near you to draw those energies in closer to you (healing, tranquility, love) - great use for meditations, spiritual baths, and other healing/spiritual practices
Carry the jar with you to promote a specific energy through the day or to support your intention (abundance for opportunities + good luck, tranquility for peace, love for positive interactions or self love)
Write your intention for the jar on a piece of paper, fold it toward you to draw it in or away from you to remove it, and put it under the jar to direct it’s energy toward that intention
Speak your intentions into your jar
